Who is Emily Schmidt?
Emily is a Los Angeles-based
writer, improviser, producer,
director, all-around performer
and snarky commenter.
One could say she wears many hats, but...she doesn't really look that great in hats.
Emily was born and raised near Minneapolis, MN. In 2010, she graduated from New York University with a BFA in Dramatic Writing and a minor in Producing. She specialized in sitcom scripts, but studied writing for the stage and screen and applies her writing skills to a variety of formats.
She has been improvising professionally for over a decade in New York, Minneapolis, and now LA. Since completing the Upright Citizens Brigade improv program, she performs with many independent groups at venues around town. Improv has honed many of her skills, including communication, a tactful sense of humor, teamwork, brainstorming and presence.
Recently, Emily has taught improv at HUGE Theater and is involved with the Twin Cities Improv Festival. Before moving to LA, Emily was the Company Development Assistant at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. She was most recently the Writers' Assistant on new Netflix comedy, Girlboss.
Emily really enjoys the process of conceiving, creating and completing a project - whether it is an improv show, a script and production, or a sandwich. She also values working with fun and genuine people to create something new and worthwhile.
When she's not writing or doing improv, Emily enjoys exploring the city, reading, watching the History Channel and indulging in guilty pleasure food.
